Our Beliefs
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. It tells us everything we need to know about God and a life of faith and godliness.
God
We believe in one God, externally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Humanity
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God and made for relationship with God. When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they became sinners and were separated from God. Since then, all humans are born with a sinful nature and in need of a Savior.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God; fully God and fully man. We believe Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, rose again three days later, ascended to Heaven, and will return again soon to take all who trust in Him to Heaven.
Salvation
We believe that a person is saved from their sin by grace alone through faith in Jesus alone. Jesus is the only way to be forgiven of sin and made right with God. Each person must individually choose to surrender to Jesus and receive the eternal benefits of His death and resurrection.
Baptism
We believe that Christian baptism is commanded by Jesus, and that the full immersion in water is symbolic of the work of Jesus in a person's life to put to death the old sin nature and rise to new life with Jesus in charge. Baptism is a public declaration that a person is a follower of Jesus and proud of it.
Communion
We believe that the bread and juice used in communion reminds us of the broken body and shed blood of Jesus on the cross for our sin. Communion is for all who have surrendered to Jesus as Savior and King.
Resurrection
We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus to earth, and the resurrection and judgment of all people. All who surrendered to Jesus will enjoy eternal life with God in Heaven, while all who rejected Jesus will suffer eternal separation from God in Hell.
Church
We believe that the Church is composed of all who belong to Jesus. The Church is a spiritual family with Jesus in charge, and is representative of Jesus and His kingdom on earth. We believe participation in local churches, like Granite Church, is an essential part of what it means to follow Jesus - a family of friends helping each other become more like Jesus and accomplish His mission in our local communities.
